Microsoft, Nomad Global Communications Solutions and Kymeta Team Up to Bring First Responder Tech to the Edge

Behind-the-scenes demo day on Aug 29th will showcase unique, flat-panel satellite connectivity solutions live on multiple vehicles

Redmond, Wash. (August 28, 2018)—Kymeta – the leader in flat-panel satellite antennas enabling always-on mobile broadband – and Nomad Global Communications Systems (GCS) – a leading provider of mobile operations solutions for agencies and businesses with remote communications needs – along with Microsoft will welcome Washington media, state, and local government groups to the Kymeta campus to see demonstrations of connectivity solutions for public safety and first responders enabled by Kymeta KyWayTM terminals, KyWay TM Go mobile units, and KĀLOTM internet access services on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 from 10AM-4PM.

Microsoft and Kymeta are jointly demonstrating end-to-end communications and networking on the edge with the Microsoft Patrol Platform and Microsoft Tactical Edge Platform featuring cutting-edge hardware, software, Windows Apportals, Azure Cloud integration, and connectivity to the Internet of Things (IoT), connected by Kymeta KyWay terminals.

“First responders know that reliable communications are critical in any response,” said Scott Montgomery, Senior Industry Solution Manager, Microsoft. “Kymeta is providing critical connectivity to our platforms enabling dependable, mobile satellite access that will allow multiple agencies to collaborate in real-time and deliver information to help protect the public.”

Nomad GCS will showcase their Tactical Command Vehicle featuring a Kymeta terminal, demonstrating how satellite can enable remote command and control functions from virtually anywhere.

“The ability to combine on-the-pause and on-the-move communications capabilities into one single unit is vital for the agencies we work with,” said Ethan Petro, Director of Sales Operations, Nomad GCS. “Previous solutions required vehicles to be stationary which can be a disadvantage in first response situations. With Kymeta, communications are seamless, which is a huge benefit for our customers.”

Kymeta will also show the Kymeta KyWay Go – a ruggedized, portable, rapidly deployable SATCOM terminal – and various testbeds that are making the future of hybrid networks and connected vehicles a reality.

“Today, first responders rely on communications to access current and relevant information in every situation. To provide a seamless end-to-end connectivity solution, we are embracing the technological advancements being made across the industry,” said Paul Mattear, Vice President of Business Development and Sales, Kymeta. “By integrating state-of-the-art technologies with our own innovative satellite connectivity solutions, we are enabling robust and reliable communications platforms for first responders in any environment.”
