Building from our history of field-proven connectivity products, the Kestrel u5 is engineered for ultra-compact deployment and designed with multi-network compatibility, making it our most versatile terminal to date. Kymeta’s patented water-shedding design and industry-leading durability make the Kestrel u5 the perfect choice for demanding applications such as commercial rail, unmanned vehicles and vessels (UXVs), and evolving national security applications.
The Kymeta Kestrel u5 is a sleek, powerful and durable terminal, designed for today and ready for tomorrow’s challenges. Our metamaterial-based beamforming delivers clear advantages, including wide-angle coverage that allows smaller platforms to remain connected even in rough conditions. With zero moving parts, Kymeta terminals are inherently resistant to shock and vibration, increasing performance and reducing operational burden.
The Kestrel u5 is our most compact product at just 60 centimeters wide and 8 centimeters thick. With its low-power requirement, the terminal operates with less than 100 W nominal power, which means it can be powered by solar panels, generators, or various alternative backup power options.
Trains moving between populated areas often lose cellular coverage, making it difficult for operators to maintain real-time communication and for passenger services to provide consistent connectivity. The Kestrel u5 has been configured specifically for use by rail operators, including pre-certification for IEC 50155 standards, so you can stay connected like never before.
Kymeta terminals are designed for anyone to be able to easily install and get started, with no special training required. To connect, all the user needs to do is to mount the terminal and apply power. It’s that simple.

The terminal hosts the Kymeta™ Access app, a single pane of glass experience for the complete user terminal. The app allows you to manage every aspect of your terminal’s connectivity and even helps with the unboxing and installation experience.
The Kestrel u5 terminal is designed for multi-orbit connectivity, supporting seamless operation across Low Earth Orbit (LEO), Geostationary Orbit (GEO), and beyond. Simply connect compatible modem(s) and you're connected, virtually anywhere on earth.
GEO networks offer the most stable satellite connectivity option, with the trade-off that there is more latency than with lower orbits. With the Kestrel u5, you can connect to your own provider, or sign up for a Kymeta plan ranging from 5 to 240 GB/month, optimized connectivity via satellite, standard/TRANSEC satellite plans, and up to 10 terminals in one plan.
Thanks to their low latency, LEO networks are fast to connect to and are ideal for time-sensitive transactions and communications. With the Kestrel u5 terminal, you can work with your own network provider, or sign up for connectivity provided by Eutelsat, a leading provider of global satellite services.
